Samuel Ross’ A-COLD-WALL* imprint is no stranger to Nike collaborations, and now, the power duo have unveiled their latest partnership. building on the Zoom Vomero +5 silhouette that debuted back in 2010, this will surely turn heads this season.
Given a radical redesign, the Zoom Vomero +5 has been stripped of its PU coatings in order to accelerate the ageing process, meaning that the sneaker’s appearance will change over time. releasing in two distinct colourways, including black and white, a subtle Swoosh adorns the lateral and medials sides, while A-COLD-WALL* branding makes its way to the toebox.
Discussing the collaboration, Samuel Ross explained, “With the Vomero, there has been this opportunity to really exalt the technology of its time and modernize the aesthetic, which is uncompromised to its purpose and function. It’s interesting to look at a shoe which has such a stunning and polished wire frame, and then to be able to isolate individual aspects of that shoe, to really exalt the technology. It is very exciting to take something that is very stunning and to not necessarily reinterpret but to reevaluate the product.”
This approach is also used on an apparel collection that will release alongside the two Zoom Vomero +5 colourways. This includes a parka in Japanese nylon that begins as a course texture and softens over time, as well as an industrial-inspired cropped pant.
